Based in the Northern nation of Sweden, Aimpoint is a worldwide and well-respected leader in the production of tactical scopes and other optics for use in tandem with a wide variety of firearms. In 1997, the United States Army made Aimpoint was the first ever recipient of a multi-year contract for a sighting system that involved their innovative red dot sighting technology. Ever since then, Aimpoint has provided military troops and Special Forces teams all over the world from the United States, to France, to Denmark with over half a million high quality sights that utilize ground-breaking technology to get the job done. Aimpoint sights have also become the standard as far as chosen optical sights used by the majority of NATO countries.

Red dot sights, also known as reflex sights, utilize the used of illuminated reticles that often take the form of red dots. As with other similar scopes designed to help a marksmen lock in on a target for a more precise and accurate shot, red dot sights place the reticle on the same visual plane as the object being targeted. However, unlike these other scopes, red dot scopes do not magnify the target, thus eliminating the need to worry about eye relief or parallax. This enables the shooter to focus on the target with both eyes open at any distance from the sight that is comfortable, allowing the benefits of an unlimited field of view to come into play and shave valuable seconds off of the gunman’s response time. Also, since Aimpoint sights are parallax free, the aiming process is further simplified and made second nature by the fact that the marksman does not need to worry about centering the red dot inside the sight itself. The minute you see the dot inside your Aimpoint sight, you’re ready to make an accurate shot.

click for entire Aimpoint product line   WHY AIMPOINT® SIGHTS Because Aimpoint® sights can be used with both eyes open, your field of view is unlimited at any distance. Eye relief is also unlimited, so your eye’s position behind the sight does not affect how well you see the target or the aiming point. The bright red dot is very easy to see and your eye instinctively aligns it with your target. Unlike the lenses in cheaper red dot sights, Aimpoint’s lenses transmit nearly 100% of all wavelengths of light. This means that colors appear natural and are not distorted. Because of Aimpoint’s unique double lens system, the sights are parallax-free, meaning that no matter where on the lens you see the dot reflected, your point of aim will be your point of impact. Shots that have to be fired with little time to think are always difficult. At these times it doesn’t matter if the range is short or long or if the target is standing still or moving. It is in such situations that Aimpoint proves its superiority over all other sights. Illustration 1 This is how the Aimpoint principle works: the red light from the LED is reflected back to your eye from the front lens (double lens). All other light passes through unobstructed. Illustration 2 The difference between Aimpoint’s solution… Regardless of where you position your eye, the re flection of the LED is always parallel with the sight’s optical axis thanks to the design of the double lens and its light refraction property. The points of aim and impact always coincide. Illustration 3 …and other sights. The conventional lens used in the majority of red dot sights gives an angled reflection when the dot is not centered on the lens. The farther from the center of the lens you have the dot, the greater is the deviation from the optical axis.
